JANMASHTAMI

Shailaputri :- Shailam means mountain. Shailaputri is the daughter of the mountain king Himava. The goddess is known as Hemavatimata because she is the daughter of Himavana and Parvatimata because she is the daughter of Parvataraja.

Devi was first incarnated as the daughter of Daksha Prajapati. The name of the goddess was Sati. Sati means the awakener of self. Sati could not bear to listen to the blasphemy of Shiva on the land of Dakshayaga and sacrificed herself in the fire. It was later that Devi incarnated as Shailaputri, the daughter of Himavan, king of the mountains.

In short, Shailaputri is the embodiment of the combined powers of Lord Brahma Vishnu. There is much to explain. It does not dare here. The bull is the vehicle of the goddess. In one hand there is a thorn and in the other a lotus. We worship Shailaputri on the first day of Navratri. It is said that Shailaputri Puja will remove the evils of poverty and enemies and provide longevity and wealth.

Brahmacharini :- The word Brahmacharini means celibate. Brahman also means tapas. So Brahmacharini is an ascetic. Devi, incarnated as Shailaputri, performed penance as per the instructions of Narada Muni to receive Lord Shiva as a pati.The goddess got the name Brahmacharini because of this severe penance. Beautifully dressed Goddess Kamandalu with Rudrakshamala in her hands. On the second day of Navratri, the Brahmacharini form of the Goddess is worshipped. Brahmacharini pooja results in Dharmarthakamaphala, Uttamamangalyabhagya and Putrapautradi Vriddhi.

Chandraghandha :- The goddess is known as Chandraghandha because of the bell-shaped crescent moon on her forehead. The lioness goddess has ten arms. The arms are Padma, Dhanush, Banam, Kamandalu, Khadgam, Gada and Shulam. On the third day of Navratri, the Chandraghanda Bhava of the Goddess is worshipped. Devi gives us courage and strength to fight against enemies. The puja of Chandraghandadevi is said to result in destruction of enmity, peace of mind and prosperity in life.

Kushmanda :- Kushmanda is the power that created the universe. The name Kushmanda is a combination of the three words Ku, Ushma and Andam. Ku means reduction and Ushma means heat. The third term refers to the cosmic egg. Kushmanda Bhava of Devi is worshiped on the fourth day of Navratri. The result is dukshamana and Nishesha Dogashanti.

Skandamata :- As she was the mother of Kumara Karthikeya (Skandan), the goddess is known as Skandamata. Skanda Matabhava is worshiped on the fifth day of Navratri. Devi gives us the mind and strength to work hard and the good results that come from it.

Kartyayani :- A sage named Katan lived on earth. Katya was his son. But the grief of not having a daughter made Rishivarya sad. He wanted to have Goddess Parashakti as his daughter. For that he did severe penance. Parashakti was pleased with Rishivarya.Thus Parashakti incarnated as Kartyayani as Katans daughter. Devi killed Mahishasura in Kartyayani form. At this time Devilakshmi and Devisaraswati became one, the goddess became Adiparashakti and Mahishasuramardini. Kartyayani Bhava of Navadurga is worshiped on the sixth day of Navratri. The result is vicious animosity.

Kalaratri (Kalaratri) or Sribhadrakali :- Kalaratri (Kalaratri) or Sribhadrakali is the seventh aspect of Navadurga, Kalaratri goddess with black color, raudra form and trilochanas is the fearsome form of Navadurga. Devi has four trikaras. The right hands will always bless the devotees. Devi protects her devotees from all kinds of fear and danger. Due to this, the goddess also has the name Karuna Devi Subhakaryani. Devikalaratri is the residence of Goddess Parvati. The goddess killed Raktabijan and Chandamundan in Kalaratri Bhava. Navratri is worshiped on the seventh day to give importance to Goddess Kalaratri who performed the slaying of Darikavadha.

Goddess Kalaratri or Shri Bhadrakali is the power when Lord Shiva actually gives life. Devi helps Mahadeva in Samhara Karma when Lord Shiva becomes Samhara Murthy. With the prasad of Goddess Kalaratri one gets omnipotence and freedom from fear and danger.

Mahagowri :- Mahagowri is a symbol of peace and knowledge. The word Mahagauri means white goddess. Mahagauri is the Swatikabhava of Navadurga. The vehicle of the four-armed goddess is the bull. Shula and Damaru are on both sides of the deity. Navaratri is worshiped on the eighth day of the Mahagauribhava of Annapurneswari Navadurga. The result is better education, alleviation of poverty and prosperity.

Siddhidatri :- Siddhidatri is the 9th house of Navadurga. This goddess who resides in the lotus flower is actually Mahalakshmi. Siddhidatri Bhava is worshiped on the ninth day of Navratri. Siddhidatri, who is ever-enjoyable, bestows all blessings, above all all siddhis and all auspiciousness to her devotees.
